Extend The Life Of Your Virgin Hair: Four Helpful Tips

Virgin hair is considered the crème de la crème in the world of hair extensions. Purchasing these high quality extensions should be considered an investment; an investment you work hard to protect. Fortunately, there are measures you can take to extend the life of your virgin hair.

Minimize Wet Brushing

Make an effort to minimize wet brushing. When virgin hair is wet, the hair follicles are the most venerable. Since this is basically the part of the hair that keeps the hair strand secure, if you brush aggressively, you run the risk of pulling the hair out. It's best to allow the hair time to dry before brushing it into a style. If you must brush the hair while wet, make sure you are doing so very gently.

Stick With Natural Oils

When it's time to condition your hair extensions, it's a good idea to stuck with a natural oil. Although a number of products market themselves as being nourishing for the hair, there is sometimes a bad side as well. A number of these products contain harsh chemicals and additives that actually strip the hair. This stripping can dry the hair and cause breakage. Natural oils like virgin coconut and almond oil can nourish the hair without the risk of damage.

Use A Cold Rinse

When washing, make your last rinse a cold rinse. This is sometimes called an Arctic Rinse. As previously mentioned, when you wash hair, the cuticles naturally open. Performing a cold rinse helps close the cuticles. When you close the cuticles after applying conditioner and oils, this helps seal and lock in these nutrients. The end result is healthier hair that will last longer. As an added tip, avoid using hot water with your other rinses, as this can strip the hair.

Don't Forget The Moisture

A common mistake some people make is forgetting the importance of moisturizing hair. Although it might not be your natural hair, don't forget that your virgin hair is still human hair and, therefore, it needs moisture to stay healthy. When you moisturize the hair, it doesn't just make it look better, but it also strengthens it, decreasing the risk shedding and breakage. Find a lightweight moisturizer that you can apply without the worry of weighing down your hair.

Always think of your virgin hair in the same way you would your natural hair. Keeping this train of thought will help you take better care of your extensions, allowing them to last longer. For more information, contact a virgin hair supplier like Beauty Exchange.
